Devlog 25-05-22

After another month of player feedback, playtesting and general fixes, I wanted to provide you guys with one last update before our major chapter release next month. You can check out here some new screenshots!

First and foremost, we now have a steam page up!
You can click on the button below to be taken to the game's page.

For all you steam users out there, you can now choose to play Occult Rewrite wherever you feel
more comfortable! We'll be keeping both Steam and Itch updated with the same versions and benefits on future updates,
so feel free to support the game on either platform. The proper steam release will be live together with the next update mid june.

We also now have a brand new trailer for the game!
Check it out here!

Next, I'd like to go over some quality of life changes that our dear players brought to the project by means of feedback and bug reporting.

Changes:

- Added a pause to most "interruptions":

At times, for flavor and to make the speech more vivid, the dialogue will skip as if the characters were
interrupting each other's lines. At some points that made the dialogue difficult to catch up if the player
had set the dialogue speed too high. I've added a short pause before several skips that proceed long lines.
That way, the they come less abruptly and will hopefuly allow for a more smooth transition. Naturally, it is still
advised to play the game at the standard speed to fully enjoy this mechanic as well as the character animations.

- Changed the title screen:
Aside from now adding the steam button to the "follow" list.
The title screen went through a little fix.

Early during development, we dropped the " : " from "Occult:Rewrite" for a number of
reasons, yet the reflection on the title screen still retained the old name. Most
notably it was also placed incorrectly.

- Made some adjustments to the clock mechanic:
As you all know, time is a very important factor in the game. The closer to midnight we
get, the more danger our characters face. To make this threat more vivid, the clock
will now display a larger array of values to make the passage of time smoother.

Bug Fixes:

- Major typo/grammar correction fix to the script
- Fixed a bug where the character "voices" would keep playing on loop if the menu was open mid-dialogue.
- Fixed a bug where Aurora's crying animation caused an error
- Fixed a couple visual bugs on the mobile version
- Fixed a bug where going back a page while reading the "Shining Light" document caused an error
- Fixed some keybings left from de devbuild

And so we conclude our last update for the month.
Please stay tuned for chapter 2's release this june containing all new scenes,
several hours of gameplay all new tracks by our composer and new extended endings!
